Two intensive research programs at Vibra 2019 - Choreographic lab and Performance research & coaching, are established for young choreographers wanting a safe and stimulating environment in which to question and develop their choreographic language and are offered a space for experimentations.
One choreographer who applies with a work-in-progress performance will be selected for intensive week of research, discussion and artistic process development from 26 - 31 August 2019. Working as coach with the choreographer will be Magdalena Reiter who'll bring her range of experience to the process.
A month before the workshop the chosen choreographer will have a meeting or an online conference with the coach to begin identifying specific creative challenges to be addressed. 
For 6 days during Vibra 2019 the choreographer will be provided with the rehearsal space for 5 hours daily. This time will be divided into to the personal studio investigations of the choreographer (development of choreographic materials, exploring ways and tools of addressing their particular creative questions) and working sessions with the coach. The coach will follow the creative process, observe rehearsals and tackle the questions about the ongoing process. Together they will focus on developing the creative process from the idea to physical articulations of the concept. In order to assist the choreographer in understanding and improving their choreographic process they will put in focus questions concerning establishing conceptual framework, choreographic tools, movement choices, physical presence, movements scores, improvised materials vs. structured materials, dealing with doubt in the creative process. The project aims to assist the young dance creators in developing the singularity of their choreographic voice by focusing on the ability to assess her / his dance making, to articulate their artistic questions and exploring alternate approaches in their creative work.
Even though the workshop doesn't aim to produce a final result / finished performance during those 6 days, work-in-progress presentation during the Open showing is part of the workshop's process. In the informal setting of the closing presentation the choreographer and dancer(s) will have the possibility to invite the audience to enter into their world and test the performative aspect of their unfinished work.
The choreographer will be chosen on the basis of work submitted via Scholarship Application (a written application and video material of the work). 
The duration of the submitted work-in-progress has to be 10-30 minutes long. There can be up to four performers involved in the piece. The leading choreographer has to be between 20 and 35 years of age.
In case there are other dancers/performers involved in the process the choreographer is obliged to ensure the presence of those dancers during the entire working process at Vibra.  
Scholarship program for young choreographers 


Magdalena Reiter is a choreographer, dancer and pedagogue. She graduated from the National Ballet School in Gdańsk and P.A.R.T.S. (Performing Arts Research and Training Studios). She created more than 15 choreographic pieces in frame of independent production houses and as commissioned works (for Polish Dance Theatre – Poznan Ballet, Bodhi Project – a company in residency at SEAD, Anton Podbevšek Teater, Plesna Izba Maribor).  She was awarded the Best performance award of the international jury at the 2nd Slovene Dance Festival, Best performance award at 8th Teaterfest in Sarajevo. Her works were presented in multiple European countries.
She works as choreographer for theatre productions (with Mateja Koležnik, De Tijd, Janez Burger, Matjaž Berger, ect.), opera productions (for the opera of Joachim Brackx at the Flemish Opera, for Flying Dutchman at Cankarjev Dom) and works as a movement advisor in films (Silent sonata and IVAN by Janez Burger). Magdalena performs in her own choreographic pieces as well as worked as performer with other choreographers and theatre directors (Dada von Bzdülöw, Johanne Saunier, Mateja Bučar, Matjaž Farič, Matjaž Berger ect.). She leads workshops, classes and works as a mentor. As a pedagogue she’s been working in Slovenia, Austria (SEAD), Croatia (Zagreb Dance Academy, Zagreb Dance Center), France, Poland, Belgium, ect.
